Roy was the greatest, I owe a great deal of my happiness to the Roy. I am saddened greatly by his passing and will miss him. His kindness will never be forgotten. His leadership to all of us who his young men I will always remember. I love you Roy
We will miss him so much! He was always a creator--he created warmth and love amoung everyone, fun in everything, "stuff" from nothing but his own vision and raw materials (really Raw!), beauty from canvas and paint and through it all, love for his family and friends and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Oh, how he has blessed our lives!
Roy was a wonderful person. Always willing to help and very creative. I enjoyed talking with him and walking through his garden to see what he had made.We will miss him. Our love and prayers go out to all his family.
Roy-- What an amazing man!! You will be missed by many--especially our family! You have touched our lives in so many ways and taught us so much! Thanks for sharing a small part of your life and knowledge with us!! Linda-we are here when you need anything! Love The Holbrooks
I remember growing up how I thought that Roy was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He magnified his calling as a boy scout leader. I learned so much from the love that he showed each of the young men in our ward growing up. I read on here about Roy having a pure heart and I can't think of a better way of putting it. He will be greatly missed. To the Vellinga family: My thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of this wonderful man.
Roy was a man of great integrity and honor. I will forever be indebted to him for the example he was to me while I growing up. He was a great father, scoutmaster, and hometeacher. I will never forget how he coud take something as simple as sitting below the summit of MT Nebo and turning it it into a parable about being a life scout and those who chose to make the ascent he likened unto the rank of Eagle Scout. Not only did he impact my life, but the lives of countless other young men I had the opportunity of sharing my love for scouting with because of his example he provided me with.
Roy Vellinga -- what a very special man! I have a feeling the sunrises and sunsets in heaven are going to be more vibrant and beautiful with his artist's brush! And the heavenly choir will be more heavenly by having his beautiful voice. I love you, Roy! Please say 'hi' to Debbie Smith for me. Till we meet again, Frances (Perine) Hume
Roy was a wonderful part of our family and I will forever cherish the memories I have of him as an older cousin while I was growing up. I remember Aunt Arlene and Uncle Clarence looking at Roy with such love and respect - I know they were so proud of the man he became. I hope it is a sweet and glorious reunion with my Dad, Richard, Clarence and Arlene and the others who were waiting for him. It was too soon and too young to lose such an amazing father and grand-father. Love, Eileen Davis

Roy was a great man. He was such an example for so many. As a young man my life was deeply impacted by his love and leadership. He will forever stand as the type of person I strive to become. I will always remember his voice singing "Give me some men who are stout-hearted men . . ." as we paddled across Lake Powell.
Roy made us so happy. He created such fun and beauty. We will trully miss him. I'm glad he can be at peace and reunited with Richard and Mom and Dad. But we are so sad to have him far from us for awhile. Linda, you have been so strong and cheerful through this long battle. Our prays are with you and your family.
I remember that Roy would sing a song about the answer being No. I sing it to my own kids now and laugh at the fun times I had at the Vellinga home in my teenage years. I am so sorry for your loss.
Linda and Family, This is the most wonderful tributes to Roy that I have ever read to a great man! each one saw the wonderful man that Roy was in his life and to his family. What a priviledge everyone feels that 'he' touched their lives. I feel I know him better by reading all these. I can't imagine how your heart is broken just for the loss, but knowing he had suffered way too long. This is just the most wonderful blog of his life and the meaning to all is huge! I am thinking of all of you now. Your cousin, Marti Boyd
We will always treasure singing in the kitchen, banging on the pots and pans with Roy, Linda and the kids. And dancing with our sweethearts in the living room. Earl and Sheri Taylor
Roy will aways have a special place in our hearts. I know that every brother and sister felt this way but we felt we were one of his favorites! Amanda had so many memories singing with her Uncle Roy, and he was the only person she would sit and sing with and of course she would say I am his favorite. He taught me to look around and enjoy the beauty. He lived as he believed, what a great example of Christ he was. I am so blessed to be his sister-in-law! I will miss him very much.
